Phase One

NEEDS ANALYSIS - What do I want?
We take the time in the beginning to understand your goals for your sidekick now and in the future. Whether it is for rental income, to house family members or a caregiver, or to age in place, there are a lot of things to consider that will effect how you go about budgeting, financing, designing and building your sidekick.

FINANCING - What can I afford and how will I pay for it?
It is important to know your budget, potential cashflow and the forms of financing available to ensure you have the full resources to achieve your goals before you start the process. We have tools and expert guidance available to help you navigate the best options for your situation.

FEASIBILITY - What is the best use of my space?
This is one of the most important steps in the process! We need to make sure that your vision matches what is possible for your lot, based on local zoning, building codes, utility requirements, building requirements and your local ADU ordinance.

Phase Two

DESIGN IT!
Admittedly the most fun part of the process is working with the designer to design your ADU! This is where all of the pre-work comes together and culminates into creating your plans.

PERMIT IT!
The plan approval and permitting process can be a little bit more involved for an ADU and can take some time. We will maintain communication with you throughout so you will have peace of mind.

Phase Three

BUILD IT!
We work with you on finish selections to match your tastes and your budget! We have vetted honest, reputable home builders to get your project built with peace of mind. Our recommended teams of skilled trades(wo)men ensure your sidekick is built to quality standards and in an efficient manner.

Phase Four

MOVE IN OR RENT IT!
Our job is not complete until someone calls your sidekick “home.” If you are looking to rent, we offer guidance on locating quality renters and important things you need to know about being a landlord. We also can provide resources for basic information about tax implications, how to protect your new asset, and how to create a strategic financial plan for what you will do with your new income!

We meet you wherever you are
in the process!
